| 2“Assim adverte Yahweh: ‘Quem permanecer nesta cidade certamente morrerá em meio à guerra, pela fome ou por causa da peste; todavia, quem se render aos babilônios viverá; pois a sua vida lhe será entregue como despojo, e, portanto, escapará da morte!’ | 2Assim diz o Senhor: O que ficar nesta cidade morrerá à espada, de fome e de peste; mas o que sair para os caldeus viverá; pois a sa vida lhe será por despojo, e vivera. | 2Thus saith the LORD, He that remaineth in this city shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goeth forth to the Chaldeans shall live; for he shall have his life for a prey, and shall live. |
| 3E, assim declara o SENHOR: ‘Em verdade esta cidade será entregue ao exército do rei da Babilônia, que a conquistará!’” | 3Assim diz o Senhor: Esta cidade infalivelmente será entregue na mão do exército do rei de Babilônia, e ele a tomará. | 3Thus saith the LORD, This city shall surely be given into the hand of the king of Babylon's army, which shall take it. |
| 4Então os líderes sugeriram imediatamente ao rei: “Eis que este homem deve ser condenado à morte! Deste modo ele está desencorajando todos os soldados que restaram na cidade, bem como todo o povo, com a mensagem que está pregando! Ora, este homem não está buscando o bem deste povo, mas a sua ruína!” | 4E disseram os príncipes ao rei: Morra este homem, visto que ele assim enfraquece as mãos dos homens de guerra que restam nesta cidade, e as mãos de todo o povo, dizendo-lhes tais palavras; porque este homem não busca a paz para este povo, porem o seu mal. | 4Therefore the princes said unto the king, We beseech thee, let this man be put to death: for thus he weakeneth the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them: for this man seeketh not the welfare of this people, but the hurt. |
| 5Diante disto, o rei Zedequias declarou: “Eis que ele está em vossas mãos; porquanto não será este rei que lhes fará qualquer oposição!” | 5E disse o rei Zedequias: Eis que ele está na vossa mão; porque não é o rei que possa coisa alguma contra vós. | 5Then Zedekiah the king said, Behold, he is in your hand: for the king is not he that can do any thing against you. |
| 6Então agarraram Jeremias e o lançaram na cisterna de Malquias, filho do rei, poço que se situava no pátio da guarda; e desceram Jeremias com cordas. Entretanto na cisterna não havia água, apenas barro; e Jeremias atolou na lama. | 6Então tomaram a Jeremias, e o lançaram na cisterna de Malquias, filho do rei, que estava no átrio da guarda; e desceram Jeremias com cordas; mas na cisterna não havia água, senão lama, e atolou-se Jeremias na lama. | 6Then took they Jeremiah, and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that was in the court of the prison: and they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire: so Jeremiah sunk in the mire. |
| 7Contudo, Ebede-Meleque, o etíope, eunuco e oficial do palácio real ficou sabendo que haviam atirado Jeremias na cisterna. Enquanto o rei estava à porta de Benjamim, | 7Quando Ebede-Meleque, o etíope, um eunuco que então estava na casa do rei, ouviu que tinham metido Jeremias na cisterna, o rei estava assentado à porta de Benjamim. | 7Now when Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, one of the eunuchs which was in the king's house, heard that they had put Jeremiah in the dungeon; the king then sitting in the gate of Benjamin; |
| 8Ebede-Meleque saiu do palácio e foi rogar ao rei, dizendo: | 8Saiu, pois, Ebede-Meleque da casa do rei, e falou ao rei, dizendo: | 8Ebedmelech went forth out of the king's house, and spake to the king, saying, |
| 9“Ó rei, meu senhor, esses homens cometeram um mal em tudo o que fizeram contra o profeta Jeremias! Eis que eles o lançaram no fundo de uma cisterna para que morra de fome, pois já não há mais pão na cidade!” | 9o rei, senhor meu, estes homens fizeram mal em tudo quanto fizeram a Jeremias, o profeta, lançando-o na cisterna; de certo morrerá no lugar onde se acha, por causa da fome, pois não há mais pão na cidade. | 9My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon; and he is like to die for hunger in the place where he is: for there is no more bread in the city. |
| 10Então o rei ordenou a Ebede-Meleque, o etíope: “Leva contigo três homens sob o teu comando e retira o profeta Jeremias de dentro da cisterna antes que ele não suporte e venha a perecer!” | 10Deu ordem, então, o rei a Ebede-Meleque, o etíope, dizendo: Toma contigo daqui três homens, e tira Jeremias, o profeta, da cisterna, antes que morra. | 10Then the king commanded Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Take from hence thirty men with thee, and take up Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon, before he die. |
| 11Então Ebede-Meleque levou em sua companhia os homens que estavam sob as suas ordens e dirigiu-se à sala que fica debaixo da tesouraria do palácio. Tomou alguns trapos e roupas velhas e os desceu com cordas até Jeremias na cisterna. | 11Assim Ebede-Meleque tomou consigo os homens, e entrou na casa do rei, debaixo da tesouraria, e tomou dali uns trapos velhos e rotos, e roupas velhas, e desceu-os a Jeremias na cisterna por meio de cordas. | 11So Ebedmelech took the men with him, and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took thence old cast clouts and old rotten rags, and let them down by cords into the dungeon to Jeremiah. |
| 12Ebede-Meleque, o etíope, então orientou a Jeremias, dizendo: “Coloca esses trapos e roupas velhas debaixo dos braços para servirem como almofada para as cordas.” Então Jeremias fez exatamente o que lhe foi pedido. | 12E disse Ebede-Meleque, o etíope, a Jeremias: Poe agora estes trapos velhos e rotos, debaixo dos teus sovacos, entre os braços e as cordas. E Jeremias assim o fez. | 12And Ebedmelech the Ethiopian said unto Jeremiah, Put now these old cast clouts and rotten rags under thine armholes under the cords. And Jeremiah did so. |
| 13Assim, por meio das cordas o içaram e o retiraram da cisterna. E Jeremias permaneceu no pátio da guarda. | 13E tiraram Jeremias com as cordas, e o alçaram da cisterna; e ficou Jeremias no átrio da guarda. | 13So they drew up Jeremiah with cords, and took him up out of the dungeon: and Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison. |
| 14Então o rei Zedequias deu ordens para que conduzissem o profeta Jeremias à sua presença, na terceira entrada da Casa de Yahweh; e o rei questionou a Jeremias, dizendo: “Eis que vou interrogar-te sobre um assunto; contudo, não me escondas nada!” | 14Então mandou o rei Zedequias e fez vir à sua presença Jeremias, o profeta, à terceira entrada do templo do Senhor; e disse o rei a Jeremias: Vou perguntar-te uma coisa; não me encubras nada. | 14Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took Jeremiah the prophet unto him into the third entry that is in the house of the LORD: and the king said unto Jeremiah, I will ask thee a thing; hide nothing from me. |
| 15E Jeremias respondeu a Zedequias: “Se te responder como me pedes, não me matarás? Contudo, mesmo que te aconselhes não me darás ouvidos!” | 15E disse Jeremias a Zedequias: Se eu ta declarar, acaso não me matarás? E se eu te aconselhar, não me ouvirás. | 15Then Jeremiah said unto Zedekiah, If I declare it unto thee, wilt thou not surely put me to death? and if I give thee counsel, wilt thou not hearken unto me? |
| 16Entretanto, o rei Zedequias jurou secretamente a Jeremias: “Juro pelo Eterno Nome do SENHOR, de quem recebemos a vida, que eu não te matarei nem te entregarei nas mãos daqueles que procuram tirar-te a vida!” | 16Então jurou o rei Zedequias a Jeremias, em segredo, dizendo: Vive o Senhor, que nos fez esta alma, que não te matarei nem te entregarei na mão destes homens que procuram a tua morte. | 16So Zedekiah the king sware secretly unto Jeremiah, saying, As the LORD liveth, that made us this soul, I will not put thee to death, neither will I give thee into the hand of these men that seek thy life. |
| 17Então Jeremias declarou a Zedequias: “Eis que assim adverte Yahweh, o Todo-Poderoso, Eterno dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: ‘Se te renderes aos príncipes do rei da Babilônia, tua vida será poupada e esta cidade não será destruída pelo fogo; e vivereis tu e toda a tua família! | 17Então Jeremias disse a Zedequias: Assim diz o Senhor, Deus dos exércitos, Deus de Israel: Se te renderes aos príncipes do rei de Babilônia, será poupada a tua vida, e esta cidade não se queimará a fogo, e viverás tu e a tua casa. | 17Then said Jeremiah unto Zedekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; If thou wilt assuredly go forth unto the king of Babylon's princes, then thy soul shall live, and this city shall not be burned with fire; and thou shalt live, and thine house: |
| 18Entretanto, se não depores tuas armas e não te renderes aos oficiais do rei da Babilônia, esta cidade será entregue nas mãos dos babilônios, e eles a incendiarão; nem mesmo tu escaparás da ira e das mãos deles!’” | 18Mas, se não saíres aos príncipes do rei de Babilônia, então será entregue esta cidade na mão dos caldeus, e eles a queimarão a fogo, e tu não escaparás da sua mão. | 18But if thou wilt not go forth to the king of Babylon's princes, then shall this city be given into the hand of the Chaldeans, and they shall burn it with fire, and thou shalt not escape out of their hand. |
| 19Em seguida, o rei Zedequias confidenciou a Jeremias: “Tenho medo dos judeus que estão apoiando os babilônios, pois esses caldeus poderão entregar-me nas mãos deles, e eles me submeterão a muitas privações!” | 19E disse o rei Zedequias a Jeremias: Receio-me dos judeus que se passaram para os caldeus, que seja entregue na mão deles, e escarneçam de mim. | 19And Zedekiah the king said unto Jeremiah, I am afraid of the Jews that are fallen to the Chaldeans, lest they deliver me into their hand, and they mock me. |
| 20Mas Jeremias lhe afirmou: “Não te entregarão! Rogo-te, contudo, ouve a voz de Yahweh, conforme te profetizo; tudo irá bem contigo, e a tua vida será poupada. | 20Jeremias, porém, disse: Não te entregarão. Ouve, peço-te, a voz do Senhor, conforme a qual eu te falo; e bem te irá, e poupar-se-á a tua vida. | 20But Jeremiah said, They shall not deliver thee. Obey, I beseech thee, the voice of the LORD, which I speak unto thee: so it shall be well unto thee, and thy soul shall live. |
| 21Entretanto, se não te renderes, esta é a palavra que o SENHOR me revelou: | 21Mas, se tu recusares sair, esta é a palavra que me mostrou o Senhor: | 21But if thou refuse to go forth, this is the word that the LORD hath shewed me: |
| 22Então todas as mulheres que ficaram no palácio real de Judá serão levadas aos príncipes do rei da Babilônia, e elas mesmas declararão: ‘Os teus amigos em quem confiavas te enganaram e prevaleceram contra ti; e agora os teus pés estão afundados na lama, e eles te abandonaram. | 22Eis que todas as mulheres que ficaram na casa do rei de Judá serão levadas aos príncipes do rei de Babilônia, e elas mesmas dirão: Os teus pacificadores te incitaram e prevaleceram contra ti; e agora que se atolaram os teus pés na lama, voltaram atrás. | 22And, behold, all the women that are left in the king of Judah's house shall be brought forth to the king of Babylon's princes, and those women shall say, Thy friends have set thee on, and have prevailed against thee: thy feet are sunk in the mire, and they are turned away back. |
| 23Todas as tuas mulheres e os teus filhos serão levados aos babilônios; nem mesmo tu escaparás das mãos deles, mas serás capturado pelo rei da Babilônia, que ordenará que esta cidade seja totalmente incendiada.” | 23Todas as tuas mulheres e os teus filhos serão levados para fora aos caldeus; e tu não escaparás da sua mão, mas pela mão do rei de Babilônia serás preso, e esta cidade será queimada a fogo. | 23So they shall bring out all thy wives and thy children to the Chaldeans: and thou shalt not escape out of their hand, but shalt be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon: and thou shalt cause this city to be burned with fire. |
| 24Então Zedequias ameaçou Jeremias: “Zelai para que ninguém fique sabendo desta conversa; caso contrário, morrerás! | 24Então disse Zedequias a Jeremias: Ninguém saiba estas palavras, e não morrerás. | 24Then said Zedekiah unto Jeremiah, Let no man know of these words, and thou shalt not die. |
| 25Se os chefes ou líderes souberem que eu dialoguei contigo e te indagarem: ‘Conta-nos agora o que disseste ao rei e o que o rei te disse, não nos escondas nada para que não te matemos’; | 25Se os príncipes ouvirem que falei contigo, e vierem ter contigo e te disserem: Declara-nos agora o que disseste ao rei e o que o rei te disse; não no-lo encubras, e não te mataremos; | 25But if the princes hear that I have talked with thee, and they come unto thee, and say unto thee, Declare unto us now what thou hast said unto the king, hide it not from us, and we will not put thee to death; also what the king said unto thee: |
| 26então lhes responderás: ‘Fiz um pedido ao rei, para que ele não me mandasse de volta à casa de Jônatas, para não morrer ali.’ | 26então lhes dirás: Eu lancei a minha súplica diante do rei, que não me fizesse tornar à casa de Jônatas, para morrer ali. | 26Then thou shalt say unto them, I presented my supplication before the king, that he would not cause me to return to Jonathan's house, to die there. |
| 27Então, todos os príncipes e líderes do povo se dirigiram a Jeremias e o interrogaram; e ele lhes respondeu de acordo com as palavras que o rei lhe havia ordenado. Por este motivo não lhe fizeram mais perguntas, porquanto ninguém tinha ouvido a conversa que tivera com o rei. | 27Então vieram todos os principes a Jeremias, e o interrogaram; e ele lhes respondeu conforme todas as palavras que o rei lhe havia ordenado; assim cessaram de falar com ele, pois a coisa não foi percebida. | 27Then came all the princes unto Jeremiah, and asked him: and he told them according to all these words that the king had commanded. So they left off speaking with him; for the matter was not perceived. |
| 28Permaneceu, pois, Jeremias no átrio da guarda, até ao dia em que a cidade de Jerusalém foi conquistada. | 28E ficou Jeremias no átrio da guarda, até o dia em que Jerusalém foi tomada. | 28So Jeremiah abode in the court of the prison until the day that Jerusalem was taken: and he was there when Jerusalem was taken. |
