But David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness. |

| 10E disse mais Davi: “Tão certo como vive o SENHOR, Yahweh mesmo o haverá de ferir, quando chegar a sua hora e ele morrer, ou quando, no campo de batalha de batalha, tombar morto. | 10Disse mais Davi: Como vive o Senhor, ou o Senhor o ferirá, ou chegará o seu dia e morrerá, ou descerá para a batalha e perecerá; | 10David said furthermore, As the LORD liveth, the LORD shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish. |
| 11Yahweh me livre de estender a mão contra o seu ungido! Apanha agora a lança que está à sua cabeceira e a bilha d’água, e partamo-nos ligeiro daqui!” | 11o Senhor, porém, me guarde de que eu estenda a mão contra o ungido do Senhor. Agora, pois, toma a lança que está à sua cabeceira, e a bilha d`água, e vamo-nos. | 11The LORD forbid that I should stretch forth mine hand against the LORD'S anointed: but, I pray thee, take thou now the spear that is at his bolster, and the cruse of water, and let us go. |
| 12Então, Davi pegou a lança e o jarro de água que estavam próximos à cabeça de Saul, e eles se foram. Ninguém os viu, nem os ouviu, nenhum dos soldados acordou; porquanto todos dormiam pesadamente, pois o SENHOR os fizera cair em profundo sono. | 12Tomou, pois, Davi a lança e a bilha d`água da cabeceira de Saul, e eles se foram. Ninguém houve que o visse, nem que o soubesse, nem que acordasse; porque todos estavam dormindo, pois da parte do Senhor havia caído sobre eles um profundo sono. | 12So David took the spear and the cruse of water from Saul's bolster; and they gat them away, and no man saw it, nor knew it, neither awaked: for they were all asleep; because a deep sleep from the LORD was fallen upon them. |

| 15Davi retrucou a Abner: “Acaso és homem ou não? Porventura não és o melhor soldado de Israel? Então me respondas, por que não guardaste o rei teu senhor? Pois alguém do povo esteve aí para tirar a vida do rei teu senhor. | 15Ao que disse Davi a Abner: Não és tu um homem? e quem há em Israel como tu? Por que, então, não guardaste o rei, teu senhor? porque um do povo veio para destruir o rei, teu senhor. | 15And David said to Abner, Art not thou a valiant man? and who is like to thee in Israel? wherefore then hast thou not kept thy lord the king? for there came one of the people in to destroy the king thy lord. |
| 16Ora, não é justo o que fizeste! Tão certo como Yahweh vive, és digno de morte, porque não velaste por teu senhor, o ungido de Yahweh. Olha e vê onde está a lança do rei e a bilha d’água que estavam bem próximas à cabeça de Saul!” | 16Não é bom isso que fizeste. Vive o Senhor, que sois dignos de morte, porque não guardastes a vosso senhor, o ungido do Senhor. Vede, pois, agora onde está a lança do rei, e a bilha d`água que estava à sua cabeceira. | 16This thing is not good that thou hast done. As the LORD liveth, ye are worthy to die, because ye have not kept your master, the LORD'S anointed. And now see where the king's spear is, and the cruse of water that was at his bolster. |
| 17Neste momento Saul reconheceu a voz de Davi, e exclamou: “Não é tua voz que ouço, meu filho, Davi?” – “Sim, meu senhor e rei!” redarguiu Davi. | 17Saul reconheceu a voz de Davi, e disse: Não é esta a tua voz, meu filho Davi? Respondeu Davi: E minha voz, ó rei, meu senhor. | 17And Saul knew David's voice, and said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And David said, It is my voice, my lord, O king. |
| 18E acrescentou: “Por que o meu senhor teima em perseguir o teu servo? Que fiz eu de que possa ser incriminado? | 18Disse mais: Por que o meu senhor persegue tanto o seu servo? que fiz eu? e que maldade se acha na minha mão? | 18And he said, Wherefore doth my lord thus pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil is in mine hand? |
| 19Rogo-te, senhor meu rei, que ouças as palavras do teu servo: se é Yahweh que te impele a castigar minha pessoa, certamente aceitará uma oferta de paz; se, porém, são homens que o instigaram contra mim, que sejam amaldiçoados diante do SENHOR! Porquanto, hoje eles me afastaram da minha porção na herança de Yahweh, como se ordenassem: ‘Vai, cultua e serve a outros deuses!’ | 19Ouve pois agora, ó rei, meu senhor, as palavras de teu servo: Se é o Senhor quem te incita contra mim, receba ele uma oferta; se, porém, são os filhos dos homens, malditos sejam perante o Senhor, pois eles me expulsaram hoje para que eu não tenha parte na herança do Senhor, dizendo: Vai, serve a outros deuses. | 19Now therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If the LORD have stirred thee up against me, let him accept an offering: but if they be the children of men, cursed be they before the LORD; for they have driven me out this day from abiding in the inheritance of the LORD, saying, Go, serve other gods. |
| 20Agora! Que meu sangue jamais se derrame sobre a terra longe da presença de Yahweh! Ora, o rei de Israel saiu com seu exército em busca de uma pulga, como alguém que sai a caça de uma perdiz qualquer nos montes!” | 20Agora, pois, não caia o meu sangue em terra fora da presença do Senhor; pois saiu o rei de Israel em busca duma pulga, como quem persegue uma perdiz nos montes. | 20Now therefore, let not my blood fall to the earth before the face of the LORD: for the king of Israel is come out to seek a flea, as when one doth hunt a partridge in the mountains. |
| 21Então Saul respondeu em alta voz: “Pequei! Volta, meu filho Davi: nenhum mal te farei de agora em diante, pois tiveste hoje a minha vida em tão alta conta! Sim, tenho agido insensatamente, como um tolo, e errei muitíssimo!” | 21Então disse Saul: Pequei; volta, meu filho Davi, pois não tornarei a fazer-te mal, porque a minha vida foi hoje preciosa aos teus olhos. Eis que procedi como um louco, e errei grandissimamente. | 21Then said Saul, I have sinned: return, my son David: for I will no more do thee harm, because my soul was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly. |
| 22Respondeu Davi: “Aqui está a lança do rei. Venha um dos teus servos buscá-la. | 22Davi então respondeu, e disse: Eis aqui a lança, ó rei! venha cá um os mancebos, e leve-a. | 22And David answered and said, Behold the king's spear! and let one of the young men come over and fetch it. |
| 23Yahweh haverá de retribuir a cada um segundo a sua justiça e a sua fidelidade: Yahweh te entregou hoje nas minhas mãos, contudo não levantei meu braço para matar aquele que o próprio Deus escolheu e consagrou como rei! | 23O Senhor, porém, pague a cada um a sua justiça e a sua lealdade; pois o Senhor te entregou hoje na minha mão, mas eu não quis estender a mão contra o ungido do Senhor. | 23The LORD render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness: for the LORD delivered thee into my hand to day, but I would not stretch forth mine hand against the LORD'S anointed. |
| 24Assim como no dia de hoje a tua vida mereceu aos meus olhos tão alto apreço, assim também velará Yahweh pela minha vida e me livrará de toda a angústia!” | 24E assim como foi a tua vida hoje preciosa aos meus olhos, seja a minha vida preciosa aos olhos do Senhor, e livre-me ele de toda a tribulação. | 24And, behold, as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes, so let my life be much set by in the eyes of the LORD, and let him deliver me out of all tribulation. |
| 25Então Saul afirmou a Davi: “Bendito sejas, meu filho Davi! Certamente muitas campanhas empreenderás, e triunfarás!” Davi seguiu o seu caminho, e Saul voltou à sua casa. | 25Então Saul disse a Davi: Bendito sejas tu, meu filho Davi, pois grandes coisas farás e também certamente prevalecerás. Então Davi se foi o seu caminho e Saul voltou para o seu lugar. | 25Then Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do great things, and also shalt still prevail. So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place. |
