| 2Então Sarai propôs a Abrão: “Ouve, eu te peço: o SENHOR não permitiu que eu desse à luz. Portanto, toma a minha serva. Talvez, por intermédio dela, eu venha a ter filhos”. | 2Disse Sarai a Abrão: Eis que o Senhor me tem impedido de ter filhos; toma, pois, a minha serva; porventura terei filhos por meio dela. E ouviu Abrão a voz de Sarai. | 2And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai. |
| 3E assim, depois de dez anos em que Abrão habitava na terra de Canaã, sua esposa Sarai tomou Hagar, a egípcia, e a entregou como mulher a seu marido, Abrão. | 3Assim Sarai, mulher de Abrão, tomou a Agar a egípcia, sua serva, e a deu por mulher a Abrão seu marido, depois de Abrão ter habitado dez anos na terra de Canaã. | 3And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife. |
| 4Este teve relações sexuais com Hagar, que ficou grávida. Quando Hagar se viu grávida, começou a olhar sua senhora com arrogância e desprezo. | 4E ele conheceu a Agar, e ela concebeu; e vendo ela que concebera, foi sua senhora desprezada aos seus olhos. | 4And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived: and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes. |
| 5Então Sarai queixou-se a Abrão: “Tu és responsável pela injúria que me está sendo feita! Coloquei minha serva entre teus braços e, desde que se viu grávida, ela começou a tratar-me com desprezo. Que o SENHOR faça cair sobre ti a afronta que venho sofrendo!” | 5Então disse Sarai a Abrão: Sobre ti seja a afronta que me é dirigida a mim; pus a minha serva em teu regaço; vendo ela agora que concebeu, sou desprezada aos seus olhos; o Senhor julgue entre mim e ti. | 5And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong be upon thee: I have given my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes: the LORD judge between me and thee. |
| 6Mas Abrão ponderou: “Pois bem, tua serva está em tuas mãos; faze-lhe como melhor te parecer”. A partir desse momento Sarai passou a maltratar sua serva de tal maneira, que Hagar fugiu. | 6Ao que disse Abrão a Sarai: Eis que tua serva está nas tuas mãos; faze-lhe como bem te parecer. E Sarai maltratou-a, e ela fugiu de sua face. | 6But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid is in thy hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face. |
| 7Contudo, o Anjo do SENHOR encontrou Hagar perto de uma fonte no deserto, no caminho de Sur, | 7Então o anjo do Senhor, achando-a junto a uma fonte no deserto, a fonte que está no caminho de Sur, | 7And the angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur. |
| 8e indagou-lhe: “Hagar, serva de Sarai, de onde vens e para onde vais?” Ao que ela declarou: “Fujo da presença de minha senhora Sarai”. | 8perguntou-lhe: Agar, serva de Sarai, donde vieste, e para onde vais? Respondeu ela: Da presença de Sarai, minha senhora, vou fugindo. | 8And he said, Hagar, Sarai's maid, whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou go? And she said, I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai. |
| 9Então o Anjo do SENHOR orientou-a: “Volta para a tua senhora e sê-lhe submissa!” | 9Disse-lhe o anjo do Senhor: Torna-te para tua senhora, e humilha-te debaixo das suas mãos. | 9And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands. |
| 10O Anjo do SENHOR lhe prometeu: “Eu multiplicarei grandemente a tua descendência, de tal maneira que não será possível contá-la!” | 10Disse-lhe mais o anjo do Senhor: Multiplicarei sobremaneira a tua descendência, de modo que não será contada, por numerosa que será. | 10And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude. |
| 11E o Anjo do SENHOR concluiu: “Estás grávida e darás à luz um filho, e tu lhe darás o nome de Ismael, porquanto Yahweh te socorreu em teu sofrimento. | 11Disse-lhe ainda o anjo do Senhor: Eis que concebeste, e terás um filho, a quem chamarás Ismael; porquanto o Senhor ouviu a tua aflição. | 11And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction. |
| 12Contudo ele será como um jumento selvagem do deserto; ele lutará contra todos e todos guerrearão contra ele. Ele viverá em hostilidade contra todos os seus parentes!” | 12Ele será como um jumento selvagem entre os homens; a sua mão será contra todos, e a mão de todos contra ele; e habitará diante da face de todos os seus irmãos. | 12And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren. |
| 13A Yahweh, que lhe falou, Hagar deu este nome: “Tu és El-Roí, o Deus que Me Vê”, pois Deus havia falado com ela, e ela questionara a si mesma: “Teria eu visto Aquele que Me Vê?” | 13E ela chamou, o nome do Senhor, que com ela falava, El-Rói; pois disse: Não tenho eu também olhado neste lugar para aquele que me vê? | 13And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me? |
| 14É por esse motivo que este poço, que fica entre Cades e Berede, foi chamado de Beer-Laai-Roí, “Poço Daquele que Vive e Me Vê”. | 14Pelo que se chamou aquele poço Beer-Laai-Rói; ele está entre Cades e Berede. | 14Wherefore the well was called Beerlahairoi; behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered. |
| 15Hagar deu à luz um filho de Abrão, e este deu ao menino o nome de Ismael. | 15E Agar deu um filho a Abrão; e Abrão pôs o nome de Ismael no seu filho que tivera de Agar. | 15And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called his son's name, which Hagar bare, Ishmael. |
| 16Abrão tinha oitenta e seis anos quando Hagar o fez pai de Ismael. | 16Ora, tinha Abrão oitenta e seis anos, quando Agar lhe deu Ismael. | 16And Abram was fourscore and six years old, when Hagar bare Ishmael to Abram. |
