| 3Que felicidade poderias dar a Shaddai, o Todo-Poderoso, se fosses justo? Que lucro receberia Deus se os teus caminhos fossem irrepreensíveis? | 3Tem o Todo-Poderoso prazer em que tu sejas justo, ou lucro em que tu faças perfeitos os teus caminhos? | 3Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain to him, that thou makest thy ways perfect? |
| 4Sendo assim, será que é por sua bondade e misericórdia que Deus te julga, condena e repreende? | 4É por causa da tua reverência que te repreende, ou que entra contigo em juízo? | 4Will he reprove thee for fear of thee? will he enter with thee into judgment? |
| 5Ou será que é por causa da tua maldade? Não são infindos os teus erros e pecados? | 5Não é grande a tua malícia, e sem termo as tuas iniqüidades? | 5Is not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities infinite? |
| 6Ora, sem motivo exigias penhores dos teus semelhantes, como garantia de um pequeno empréstimo extorquias dos pobres as próprias roupas deixando-os nus! | 6Pois sem causa tomaste penhôres a teus irmaos e aos nus despojaste dos vestidos. | 6For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing. |
| 7Não serviste de água ao sedento e cansado, e retiveste o pão ao faminto. | 7Não deste ao cansado água a beber, e ao faminto retiveste o pão. | 7Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry. |
| 8Entretanto, sendo tu dono de muitas terras e vivendo do fruto delas, eras honrado diante de todos. | 8Mas ao poderoso pertencia a terra, e o homem acatado habitava nela. | 8But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it. |
| 9Mandaste embora de tuas terras as viúvas sem qualquer ajuda ou indenização, e esmagaste os braços dos órfãos! | 9Despediste vazias as viúvas, e os braços dos órfãos foram quebrados. | 9Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken. |
| 10Ora, esses certamente são os motivos pelos quais estás cercado de ciladas, provações, e a iminência de uma grande catástrofe pessoal te apavora. | 10Por isso é que estás cercado de laços, e te perturba um pavor repentino, | 10Therefore snares are round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee; |
| 11Também por isso vives atormentado, com a sensação de que estás envolto em trevas tão densas que te deixam cego, e te afogam como as muitas águas de uma inundação. | 11ou trevas de modo que nada podes ver, e a inundação de águas te cobre. | 11Or darkness, that thou canst not see; and abundance of waters cover thee. |
| 12Porventura, não está Deus nas alturas dos céus? Olha para as mais altas estrelas e vê como estão distantes! | 12Não está Deus na altura do céu? Olha para as mais altas estrelas, quão elevadas estão! | 12Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are! |
| 13Contudo, tu cogitas: ‘O que sabe Deus? Pode ele julgar através de tamanha e densa escuridão? | 13E dizes: Que sabe Deus? Pode ele julgar através da escuridão? | 13And thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud? |
| 14Nuvens espessas o envolvem, de tal maneira que ele não pode enxergar quando percorre a abóbada celeste’. | 14Grossas nuvens o encobrem, de modo que não pode ver; e ele passeia em volta da abóbada do céu. | 14Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven. |
| 15Assim é que desejas seguir no caminho antigo trilhado pelos homens malignos? | 15Queres seguir a vereda antiga, que pisaram os homens iníquos? | 15Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden? |
| 16Eles foram ceifados antes da hora; seus alicerces foram arrastados por uma enchente repentina. | 16Os quais foram arrebatados antes do seu tempo; e o seu fundamento se derramou qual um rio. | 16Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood: |
| 17Exclamaram a Deus: ‘Afasta-te de nós!’ E mais: ‘Que pode nos fazer o Todo-Poderoso?’ | 17Diziam a Deus: retira-te de nós; e ainda: Que é que o Todo-Poderoso nos pode fazer? | 17Which said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them? |
| 18Entretanto, foi Deus que encheu de bens as casas deles. Portanto, longe de mim estejam os conselhos dos ímpios! | 18Contudo ele encheu de bens as suas casas. Mas longe de mim estejam os conselhos dos ímpios! | 18Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me. |
| 19Os justos veem isso e se alegram: os honestos e inocentes se alegram, declarando: | 19Os justos o vêem, e se alegram: e os inocentes escarnecem deles, | 19The righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn. |
| 20‘Certo é que as pessoas más foram todas destruídas, e o fogo devorou as suas riquezas!’ | 20dizendo: Na verdade são exterminados os nossos adversários, e o fogo consumiu o que deixaram. | 20Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumeth. |
| 21Sendo assim, faze as pazes com Deus sujeitando-te a ele, e a prosperidade te alcançará. | 21Apega-te, pois, a Deus, e tem paz, e assim te sobrevirá o bem. | 21Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee. |
| 22Aceita, pois, a orientação que vem da boca de Deus e deposita as suas palavras no coração. | 22Aceita, peço-te, a lei da sua boca, e põe as suas palavras no teu coração. | 22Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart. |
| 23Se te voltares para o Todo-Poderoso, serás edificado; se afastares a prática da injustiça da tua tenda, | 23Se te voltares para o Todo-Poderoso, serás edificado; se lançares a iniqüidade longe da tua tenda, | 23If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles. |
| 24deitares ao pó as tuas riquezas e o ouro puro de Ofir que possuis às pedras dos ribeiros, | 24e deitares o teu tesouro no pó, e o ouro de Ofir entre as pedras dos ribeiros, | 24Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks. |
| 25então, o Todo-Poderoso voltará a ser o teu tesouro mais precioso e a tua prata predileta. | 25então o Todo-Poderoso será o teu tesouro, e a tua prata preciosa. | 25Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver. |
| 26Então te deleitarás no Todo-Poderoso e erguerás o teu rosto para Deus. | 26Pois então te deleitarás no Todo-Poderoso, e levantarás o teu rosto para Deus. | 26For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God. |
| 27Tu orarás a Deus, e ele te ouvirá; e pagarás os teus votos. | 27Tu orarás a ele, e ele te ouvirá; e pagarás os teus votos. | 27Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows. |
| 28Tudo que planejares realizar dará certo, e a luz brilhará constantemente em teus caminhos. | 28Também determinarás algum negócio, e ser-te-á firme, e a luz brilhará em teus caminhos. | 28Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways. |
| 29Quando teus semelhantes sofrerem qualquer abatimento, proferirás: ‘Haja alento e disposição!’ E Deus salvará o humilde. | 29Quando te abaterem, dirás: haja exaltação! E Deus salvará ao humilde. | 29When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person. |
| 30E mais, livrará até o que não é inocente, que será libertado graças à pureza que há em ti, em tuas mãos e comportamento. | 30E livrará até o que não é inocente, que será libertado pela pureza de tuas mãos. | 30He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands. |
