| 3Vai, pois, agora e investe contra Amaleque, condena-o ao anátema, consagrando-o ao SENHOR para destruição de tudo quanto houver na terra em que habitam; não tenhas piedade dele e de seu povo, mata homens e mulheres, crianças e recém-nascidos, bois e ovelhas, camelos e jumentos!” | 3Vai, pois, agora e fere a Amaleque, e o destrói totalmente com tudo o que tiver; não o poupes, porém matarás homens e mulheres, meninos e crianças de peito, bois e ovelhas, camelos e jumentos. | 3Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass. |

Retiraram-se, pois, os queneus do meio dos amalequitas. | 6And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for ye shewed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites. |

| 8Aprisionou vivo Agague, rei dos amalequitas, e passou todo o povo ao fio da espada, para cumprir o anátema. | 8E tomou vivo a Agague, rei dos amalequitas, porém a todo o povo destruiu ao fio da espada. | 8And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword. |
| 9Todavia, Saul e o seu exército pouparam a vida de Agague e tudo o que havia de melhor em os despojos de guerra, do gado miúdo ao graúdo, os animais gordos e as ovelhas, enfim, tudo o que havia de bom não quiseram incluí-lo no anátema; mas tudo o que era vil e desprezível o destinaram à destruição completa. | 9Mas Saul e o povo pouparam a Agague, como também ao melhor das ovelhas, dos bois, e dos animais engordados, e aos cordeiros, e a tudo o que era bom, e não os quiseram destruir totalmente; porém a tudo o que era vil e desprezível destruíram totalmente. | 9But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly. |
| 10A palavra de Yahweh veio a Samuel nestes termos: | 10Então veio a palavra do Senhor a Samuel, dizendo: | 10Then came the word of the LORD unto Samuel, saying, |
| 11“Arrependo-me de haver promovido Saul à realeza, porquanto ele se afastou de mim e não seguiu as minhas orientações!” Então Samuel ficou muito magoado e clamou ao SENHOR a noite toda. | 11Arrependo-me de haver posto a Saul como rei; porquanto deixou de me seguir, e não cumpriu as minhas palavras. Então Samuel se contristou, e clamou ao Senhor a noite toda. | 11It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night. |
| 12De manhã, Samuel partiu ao encontro de Saul. Deram-lhe esta informação: “Saul foi ao Carmelo, onde construiu um monumento em sua própria honra e depois partiu para longe e desceu a Guilgal.” | 12E Samuel madrugou para encontrar-se com Saul pela manhã; e foi dito a Samuel: Já chegou Saul ao Carmelo, e eis que levantou para si numa coluna e, voltando, passou e desceu a Gilgal. | 12And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal. |
| 13Assim que Samuel o encontrou, Saul o saudou dizendo: “Bendito sejas tu de Yahweh! Executei a ordem do SENHOR!” | 13Veio, pois, Samuel ter com Saul, e Saul lhe disse: Bendito sejas do Senhor; já cumpri a palavra do Senhor. | 13And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the LORD: I have performed the commandment of the LORD. |
| 14Contudo Samuel lhe indagou: “E que são esses balidos de ovelhas que chegam aos meus ouvidos e esses mugidos de bois que escuto tão bem?” | 14Então perguntou Samuel: Que quer dizer, pois, este balido de ovelhas que chega aos meus ouvidos, e o mugido de bois que ouço? | 14And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear? |
| 15Ao que replicou Saul: “Os guerreiros os trouxeram de Amaleque! Eles preservaram o melhor dos animais grandes e dos pequenos a fim de oferecê-los em sacrifícios ao SENHOR, o teu Deus, porém destruímos totalmente o restante!” | 15Ao que respondeu Saul: De Amaleque os trouxeram, porque o povo guardou o melhor das ovelhas e dos bois, para os oferecer ao Senhor teu Deus; o resto, porém, destruímo-lo totalmente. | 15And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed. |
| 16Diante disto, Samuel censurou Saul ordenando-lhe: “Cala-te! Deixa-me dizer-te o que Yahweh me revelou durante esta noite passada.” Então lhe rogou Saul: “Dize-me!” | 16Então disse Samuel a Saul: Espera, e te declararei o que o Senhor me disse esta noite. Respondeu-lhe Saul: Fala. | 16Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what the LORD hath said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on. |
| 17E Samuel falou: “Por menor que sejas aos teus próprios olhos, não és o chefe das tribos de Israel? Yahweh ungiu-te rei sobre Israel! | 17Prosseguiu, pois, Samuel: Embora pequeno aos teus próprios olhos, porventura não foste feito o cabeça das tribos de Israel? O Senhor te ungiu rei sobre Israel; | 17And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee king over Israel? |
| 18Ele te enviou como missionário com a seguinte recomendação: ‘Parte! Decreta o anátema sobre esses pecadores, os amalequitas, faze-lhes guerra até que sejam exterminados!’ | 18e bem assim te enviou o Senhor a este caminho, e disse: Vai, e destrói totalmente a estes pecadores, os amalequitas, e peleja contra eles, até que sejam aniquilados. | 18And the LORD sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed. |
| 19Por que não obedeceste às ordens de Yahweh? Por que precipitaste sobre os despojos do inimigo e fizeste o que é mau aos olhos do SENHOR?” | 19Por que, pois, não deste ouvidos à voz do Senhor, antes te lançaste ao despojo, e fizeste o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor? | 19Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the LORD, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the LORD? |
| 20Então Saul argumentou com Samuel: “Mas eu obedeci a Yahweh! Realizei a missão a que fui incumbido; poupei Agague, rei de Amaleque, mas aniquilei os amalequitas. | 20Então respondeu Saul a Samuel: Pelo contrário, dei ouvidos à voz do Senhor, e caminhei no caminho pelo qual o Senhor me enviou, e trouxe a Agague, rei de Amaleque, e aos amalequitas destruí totalmente; | 20And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites. |
| 21Meu exército tomou ovelhas e bois do despojo de guerra, o melhor do que estava consagrado a Deus para destruição, a fim de os sacrificarem ao SENHOR seu Deus, em Guilgal.” | 21mas o povo tomou do despojo ovelhas e bois, o melhor do anátema, para o sacrificar ao Senhor teu Deus em Gilgal. | 21But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God in Gilgal. |
| 22Contudo, Samuel declarou: “Agrada-se mais a Yahweh com holocaustos e sacrifícios do que com a sincera obediência à sua Palavra? De modo algum, a obediência é melhor do que o sacrifício, e a submissão do coração mais do que a gordura dos carneiros. | 22Samuel, porém, disse: Tem, porventura, o Senhor tanto prazer em holocaustos e sacrifícios, como em que se obedeça à voz do Senhor? Eis que o obedecer é melhor do que o sacrificar, e o atender, do que a gordura de carneiros | 22And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. |
| 23Porquanto a rebeldia é como o próprio pecado da feitiçaria, e a arrogância como o mal da idolatria! Porque rejeitaste a Palavra de Yahweh, Ele também o rejeitou como rei do seu povo!” | 23Porque a rebelião é como o pecado de adivinhação, e a obstinação é como a iniqüidade de idolatria. Porquanto rejeitaste a palavra do Senhor, ele também te rejeitou, a ti, para que não sejas rei. | 23For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. |
| 24Saul roga a Samuel: “Pequei e transgredi a ordem de Yahweh e os teus mandamentos, porque temi o povo e lhe dei ouvidos. | 24Então disse Saul a Samuel: Pequei, porquanto transgredi a ordem do Senhor e as tuas palavras; porque temi ao povo, e dei ouvidos a sua voz. | 24And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice. |
| 25Agora, peço-te, perdoa o meu erro, retorna comigo, para que eu adore ao SENHOR!” | 25Agora, pois, perdoa o meu pecado, e volta comigo, para que eu adore ao Senhor. | 25Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD. |
| 26Entretanto, Samuel respondeu: “Não voltarei contigo: porquanto rejeitaste a Palavra do SENHOR, também o SENHOR te rejeitou como rei sobre Israel!” | 26Samuel porém disse a Saul: Não voltarei contigo; porquanto rejeitaste a palavra do Senhor, e o Senhor te rejeitou a ti, para que não sejas rei sobre Israel: | 26And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel. |
| 27Todavia, quando Samuel se virou para sair, Saul agarrou à orla do seu manto, rasgando-o, | 27E, virando-se Samuel para se ir, Saul pegou-lhe pela orla da capa, a qual se rasgou. | 27And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent. |
| 28e Samuel concluiu: “Eis que hoje Yahweh arrancou de ti o reinado de Israel e já o entregou a um teu próximo, que é melhor do que tu!” | 28Então Samuel lhe disse: O Senhor rasgou de ti hoje o reino de Israel, e o deu a um teu próximo, que é melhor do que tu. | 28And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou. |
| 29Aquele que é a Glória de Israel não falta com a verdade nem muda seu propósito, pois não é um ser humano para que se arrependa do que aprova. | 29Também aquele que é a Força de Israel não mente nem se arrepende, por quanto não é homem para que se arrependa. | 29And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent. |
| 30Então Saul confessou: “Eu pequei, contudo, eu te suplico, honra-me diante dos anciãos do meu povo e diante de Israel e volta comigo para que eu também adore a Yahweh teu Deus!” | 30Ao que disse Saul: Pequei; honra-me, porém, agora diante dos anciãos do meu povo, e diante de Israel, e volta comigo, para que eu adore ao Senhor teu Deus. | 30Then he said, I have sinned: yet honour me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD thy God. |
| 31E Samuel, aquiescendo, retornou na companhia de Saul, e este adorou ao SENHOR. | 31Então, voltando Samuel, seguiu a Saul, e Saul adorou ao Senhor. | 31So Samuel turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped the LORD. |
| 32Depois Samuel ordenou: “Trazei-me Agague, o rei dos amalequitas!” Agague veio em sua direção cambaleando de medo, e disse: “Na verdade, a morte é por demais amarga!” | 32Então disse Samuel: Trazei-me aqui a Agague, rei dos amalequitas. E Agague veio a ele animosamente; e disse: Certamente já passou a amargura da morte. | 32Then said Samuel, Bring ye hither to me Agag the king of the Amalekites. And Agag came unto him delicately. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past. |
| 33Diante disto Samuel lhe replicou: “Assim como a tua espada arrancou das mulheres os seus filhos, do mesmo modo a tua mãe, entre as mulheres, ficará sem o seu filho!” E, naquele mesmo instante, despedaçou Agague perante o SENHOR, em Guilgal. | 33Disse, porém, Samuel: Assim como a tua espada desfilhou a mulheres, assim ficará desfilhada tua mãe entre as mulheres. E Samuel despedaçou a Agague perante o Senhor em Gilgal. | 33And Samuel said, As thy sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the LORD in Gilgal. |
| 34Então Samuel partiu para Ramá, e Saul foi para a sua habitação, em Gibeá de Saul. | 34Então Samuel se foi a Ramá; e Saul subiu a sua casa, a Gibeá de Saul. | 34Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul. |
| 35E nunca mais Samuel tornou a ver Saul, até o dia de sua morte. Contudo, Samuel seguiu sua jornada de vida lamentando profundamente o ocorrido, mas de fato Yahweh se tinha arrependido de ter feito de Saul rei de Israel. | 35Ora, Samuel nunca mais viu a Saul até o dia da sua morte, mas Samuel teve dó de Saul. E o Senhor se arrependeu de haver posto a Saul rei sobre Israel. | 35And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death: nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul: and the LORD repented that he had made Saul king over Israel. |
