| 3e proclamará: ‘Ouve, ó Israel! Estais hoje prestes a guerrear contra os vossos inimigos. Não vos acovardeis, nem vos deixeis intimidar; não vos aterrorizeis, tampouco tenhais medo por causa deles, | 3e lhe dirá: Ouvi, é Israel; vós estais hoje para entrar na peleja contra os vossos inimigos; não se amoleça o vosso coração; não temais nem tremais, nem vos aterrorizeis diante deles; | 3And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them; |
| 4pois o SENHOR, o vosso Deus, vos acompanhará e lutará por vós contra todos os vossos inimigos a fim de vos dar a vitória!’ | 4pois e Senhor vosso Deus é o que vai convosco, a pelejar por vós contra os vossos inimigos, para vos salvar. | 4For the LORD your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you. |
| 5Os escribas também falarão ao povo, exclamando: ‘Quem construiu uma casa nova e ainda não a consagrou? Que se retire e volte para casa, para que não morra na peleja e outro a consagre em seu lugar. | 5Então os oficiais falarão ao povo, dizendo: Qual é o homem que edificou casa nova e ainda não a dedicou? vá, e torne para casa; não suceda que morra na peleja e outro a dedique. | 5And the officers shall speak unto the people, saying, What man is there that hath built a new house, and hath not dedicated it? let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man dedicate it. |
| 6Quem plantou uma vinha e ainda não colheu seus primeiros frutos? Que se retire e volte para casa, para que não corra o risco de morrer em batalha e outro colha os primeiros frutos que lhe pertencem. | 6E qual é o homem que plantou uma vinha e ainda não a desfrutou, vá, e torne para casa; não suceda que morra na peleja e outro a desfrute. | 6And what man is he that hath planted a vineyard, and hath not yet eaten of it? let him also go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man eat of it. |
| 7Há alguém comprometido para casar-se que ainda não recebeu sua mulher? Que se retire e volte para sua casa, para que também não corra o risco de morrer em luta e outro se case com sua esposa!’ | 7Também qual é e homem que está desposado com uma mulher e ainda não a recebeu? vá, e torne para casa; não suceda que morra na peleja e outro a receba. | 7And what man is there that hath betrothed a wife, and hath not taken her? let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her. |
| 8E os escribas continuarão a proclamar ao povo: ‘Quem está apavorado e não tem coragem para prosseguir? Que se retire agora e volte para casa, para que sua covardia não desanime seus irmãos!’ | 8Assim continuarão os oficiais a falar ao povo, dizendo: Qual é o homem medroso e de coração tímido? vá, e torne para casa, a fim de que o coração de seus irmãos não se derreta como o seu coração. | 8And the officers shall speak further unto the people, and they shall say, What man is there that is fearful and fainthearted? let him go and return unto his house, lest his brethren's heart faint as well as his heart. |
| 9Então, quando terminarem de encorajar o povo, os escribas designarão os chefes das tropas para o comando do povo. | 9Então, tendo os oficiais, acabado de falar ao povo, designarão chefes das tropas para estarem à frente do povo. | 9And it shall be, when the officers have made an end of speaking unto the people, that they shall make captains of the armies to lead the people. |
| 10Quando estiveres para combater uma cidade, primeiro propõe-lhe a paz! | 10Quando te aproximares duma cidade para combatê-la, apregoar-lhe-ás paz. | 10When thou comest nigh unto a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace unto it. |
| 11Se seus habitantes aceitarem e abrirem as portas da cidade, todo o povo que nela estiver se tornará teu escravo e se sujeitará a trabalhos forçados. | 11Se ela te responder em paz, e te abrir as portas, todo o povo que se achar nela será sujeito a trabalhos forçados e te servirá. | 11And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee, then it shall be, that all the people that is found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and they shall serve thee. |
| 12Todavia, se eles não aceitarem a paz e entrarem em guerra contra ti, tu a sitiarás. | 12Se ela, pelo contrário, não fizer paz contigo, mas guerra, então a sitiarás, | 12And if it will make no peace with thee, but will make war against thee, then thou shalt besiege it: |

| 14Quanto às mulheres, crianças, animais e tudo o que houver na cidade, todos os seus despojos, tu os tomarás como presa. E comerás o despojo dos inimigos que Yahweh, teu Deus, te entregou em tuas mãos. | 14porém as mulheres, os pequeninos, os animais e tudo o que houver na cidade, todo o seu despojo, tomarás por presa; e comerás o despojo dos teus inimigos, que o Senhor teu Deus te deu. | 14But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself; and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath given thee. |
| 15Farás o mesmo com todas as cidades que estiverem muito distantes de ti, as cidades que não pertencem a essas nações. | 15Assim farás a todas as cidades que estiverem mais longe de ti, que não são das cidades destas nações. | 15Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities which are very far off from thee, which are not of the cities of these nations. |
| 16Todavia, quanto às cidades dessas nações pagãs que o SENHOR te dará como herança, não deixarás sobreviver nenhum ser vivo. | 16Mas, das cidades destes povos, que o Senhor teu Deus te dá em herança, nada que tem fôlego deixarás com vida; | 16But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth: |
| 17Sim, sacrificarás como anátema os hititas, os amorreus, os cananeus, os ferezeus, os heveus e os jebuseus. | 17antes destruí-los-ás totalmente: aos heteus, aos amorreus, aos cananeus, aos perizeus, aos heveus, e aos jebuseus; como Senhor teu Deus te ordenou; | 17But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee: |
| 18Se os deixardes sobreviver eles vos persuadirão a praticar os mesmos rituais pagãos e repugnantes que fazem quando adoram seus deuses, e estaríeis pecando contra Yahweh, vosso Deus. | 18para que não vos ensinem a fazer conforme todas as abominações que eles fazem a seus deuses, e assim pequeis contra o Senhor vosso Deus. | 18That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should ye sin against the LORD your God. |
| 19Quando tiveres de sitiar uma cidade durante muito tempo antes de atacá-la e, finalmente, tomá-la, não deves abater as árvores a golpes de machado; alimentar-te-ás delas, sem cortá-las: uma árvore do campo é por acaso um homem, para que a trates como um sitiado? | 19Quando sitiares uma cidade por muitos dias, pelejando contra ela para a tomar, não destruirás o seu arvoredo, metendo nele o machado, porque dele poderás comer; pelo que não o cortarás; porventura a árvore do campo é homem, para que seja sitiada por ti? | 19When thou shalt besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by forcing an axe against them: for thou mayest eat of them, and thou shalt not cut them down (for the tree of the field is man's life) to employ them in the siege: |
| 20Somente a árvore que souberes que é árvore que não dá frutos que se comam, esta, então, poderás cortar e talhar para fazer instrumentos que ajudem o cerco, até que tenhas conquistado definitivamente a cidade que está em guerra contra vós! | 20Somente as árvores que souberes não serem árvores cujo fruto se pode comer, é que destruirás e cortarás, e contra a cidade que guerrear contra ti edificarás baluartes, até que seja vencida. | 20Only the trees which thou knowest that they be not trees for meat, thou shalt destroy and cut them down; and thou shalt build bulwarks against the city that maketh war with thee, until it be subdued. |
