| 3Estabelecerás o caminho, medirás as distâncias e dividirás em três partes o território da terra que o Eterno, o teu Deus, de dará como herança; isso para que nela possa se abrigar todo aquele que houver sido acusado de homicídio. | 3preparar-lhe-ás caminhos, e partirás em três os termos da tua terra, que o Senhor teu Deus te dará em herança; isto será para que todo homicida se acolha nessas cidades. | 3Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every slayer may flee thither. |
| 4Se um homem, sem querer ou por acidente, matar alguém que não era seu inimigo, poderá ir para uma daquelas cidades, e ali ninguém poderá executá-lo. | 4Este, pois é o caso no tocante ao homicida que se acolher ali para que viva: aquele que involuntariamente matar o seu próximo, a quem dantes não odiava; | 4And this is the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past; |
| 5Por exemplo, certo homem vai com seu amigo cortar lenha na floresta e, ao levantar o machado para golpear a árvore, o ferro escapa e atinge seu amigo e o fere de morte; nesse caso ele poderá fugir para uma daquelas cidades para evitar a vingança da família do amigo e salvar sua vida. | 5como, por exemplo, aquele que entrar com o seu próximo no bosque para cortar lenha e, pondo força na sua mão com o machado para cortar a árvore, o ferro saltar do cabo e ferir o seu próximo de sorte que venha a morrer; o tal se acolherá a uma dessas cidades, e viverá; | 5As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live: |

| 8E quando Yahweh, teu Deus, fizer que tuas fronteiras se alarguem, como prometeu a teus antepassados, e te der toda a terra que jurou dar a teus pais, | 8E, se o Senhor teu Deus dilatar os teus termos, como jurou a teus pais, e te der toda a terra que prometeu dar a teus pais | 8And if the LORD thy God enlarge thy coast, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers; |
| 9com a condição de que cuides de colocar em prática todos estes decretos que hoje te ordeno, amando ao SENHOR, teu Deus, e andando sem parar em seus caminhos, acrescentarás, então, mais três cidades de refúgio às três primeiras, | 9(quando guardares, para o cumprires, todo este mandamento que eu hoje te ordeno, de amar o Senhor teu Deus e de andar sempre nos seus caminhos), então acrescentarás a estas três, mais três cidades; | 9If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the LORD thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three: |

| 11Contudo, se alguém é inimigo do seu próximo e lhe arma uma cilada, levantando-se e ferindo-o de morte, e a seguir se abriga numa daquelas cidades, | 11Mas se alguém, odiando a seu próximo e lhe armando ciladas, se levantar contra ele e o ferir de modo que venha a morrer, e se acolher a alguma destas cidades, | 11But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities: |
| 12as autoridades da sua cidade enviarão pessoas para buscá-lo na cidade de refúgio, e o entregarão nas mãos do vingador da vítima, para que o homicida seja devidamente executado. | 12então os anciãos da sua cidade, mandando tirá-lo dali, o entregarão nas mãos do vingador do sangue, para que morra. | 12Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die. |
| 13Portanto, que teu olho não tenha misericórdia do homicida. Desse modo extirparás de Israel o derramamento de sangue inocente, para que vivas bem e em paz. | 13O teu olho não terá piedade dele; antes tirarás de Israel o sangue inocente, para que te vá bem. | 13Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee. |
| 14Não deslocarás os marcos de divisa da propriedade do teu vizinho, que os teus antecessores estabeleceram na herança que vais receber na terra cuja posse Yahweh, teu Deus, te concede. | 14Não removerás os marcos do teu próximo, colocados pelos teus antecessores na tua herança que receberás, na terra que o Senhor teu Deus te dá para a possuíres. | 14Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour's landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it. |
| 15Uma só testemunha não é suficiente para condenar uma pessoa de algum crime ou delito. Qualquer acusação necessita ser confirmada pelo depoimento de duas ou três testemunhas idôneas. | 15uma só testemunha não se levantará contra alguém por qualquer iniqüidade, ou por qualquer pecado, seja qual for o pecado cometido; pela boca de duas ou de três testemunhas se estabelecerá o fato. | 15One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established. |
| 16Quando uma falsa testemunha se levantar contra alguém, acusando-o de alguma rebelião, | 16Se uma testemunha iníqua se levantar contra alguém, para o acusar de transgressão, | 16If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong; |
| 17as duas partes em litígio se apresentarão diante de Yahweh, na presença dos sacerdotes e dos juízes que estiverem em função naqueles dias. | 17então aqueles dois homens que tiverem a demanda se apresentarão perante o Senhor, diante dos sacerdotes e dos juízes que houver nesses dias. | 17Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days; |
| 18Os juízes investigarão minuciosamente o caso e, se ficar provado que a testemunha mentiu e deu falso testemunho contra o seu próximo, | 18E os juízes inquirirão cuidadosamente; e eis que, sendo a testemunha falsa, e falso o testemunho que deu contra seu irmão, | 18And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother; |
| 19então vós a tratareis da mesma maneira como ela própria planejava punir o seu próximo. Eliminarás, pois, o mal do meio de Israel. | 19far-lhe-ás como ele cuidava fazer a seu irmão; e assim exterminarás o mal do meio de ti. | 19Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you. |
| 20Todo o povo saberá do ocorrido e ficará apavorado, e nunca mais se cometerá um crime desses no meio de ti. | 20Os restantes, ouvindo isso, temerão e nunca mais cometerão semelhante mal no meio de ti. | 20And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you. |
| 21Portanto, não considerarás com piedade esses casos: alma por alma, olho por olho, dente por dente, mão por mão, pé por pé! | 21O teu olho não terá piedade dele; vida por vida, olho por olho, dente por dente, mão por mão, pé por pé. | 21And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot. |
